Terengganu has been influenced by the Grand Court Civilization of Javanese - Majapahit Kingdom as well as the Ancient Northern Sukhotai Kingdom of Thailand. This influence can be seen in the design and concept of The Aryani.

The Aryani layout is based on the refined elegance of authentic Malay architecture inspired by the Sultan’s Palace of the olden days . Exclusively designed by owner - Architect conservationist , he also designed the magnificent Terengganu State Museum and Terengganu Floating Mosque . The Aryani means ‘ Origin ‘ in Sanskrit and ‘ get a closer look ‘ in Arabic. It is named after owner’s 6th daughter.

The Main Building
The Aryani layout is based on a classical concept of a Malay settlement . The main building which holds the lobby Reception Area , Main ‘ Serai ‘ Restaurant , ‘Nusantara ‘ Meeting Room , ‘ Galeria’ Boutique and ‘ Hikayat’ Fine Dining cum Library represents the Sultan’s palace of fortress . This acts as the focal point , reference center that overlooks all else.

The Arrival Hall (Lobby Area)
The sense of arrival is pronounced as guests are welcomed with ‘Bunga Rampai ‘ ( Malaysian Potpourri), Cold Towel , and Welcome Drink of ‘Lemon Grass Tea’ and welcome Food of Terengganu’s famous ‘ Keropok Lekor’ . While waiting for registration formalities , guests can enjoy the scenic view of the Grand Central Courtyard overlooking the pool and National Marine Park.

Serai Restaurant
This main restaurant serving Malaysian, Asian and Western specialties is open from 7:00.a.m until 11:00.p.m. From the restaurant , a dramatic vista unfolds , lush green gardens and the swimming pool area are graced by the pavilions.

The “Galeria” Boutique
Sells antiques , souvenirs and personal items. It is more of a showroom on traditional and local handicraft which can be found in Terengganu.

Nusantara Meeting Room
Private meeting and conference for special small group with special request i.e. Board of Directors Meeting , Special management brainstorming session .

Hikayat Fine Dining
Open on reservation for dinner serving East meet West menu. Acts as a reading room for in-house guest during the day

The Grand Square
Around the Grand Square are three elevated ‘ Wakaf ‘ ( open sided pavilions) surrounding a series of pools. The upper pool symbolizes the importance of purity and the acts of cleansing . The middle pool or the cascading pool with the fountains symbolizes the perpetual evolution of human civilization . The lower lily pool symbolizes contemplation of life . In the evening , the “ Gamelan’ music takes over the wakaf for soothing background music.

The Landscape
Preserving the natural surrounding , only one main tree was cut down during the construction. Besides the Wild Guava and coconut trees, the lushly landscaped gardens are planted with native plants of Terengganu to do a double duty. The Serai or Lemon grass wards off mosquitoes . The pandan is nature’s deterrent to cockroaches . The sugarcane and wild banana plants with purple and pink flowers make a rustic village scene. While frangipani and our local flowers fragrance the air with their heady scent.

Villas (Room)
All Modern Suites, Deluxe and Superior Room are new buildings with a touch of traditional Terengganu architecture . All beds are specially ordered with the size of 2.2m, which sleep 3 adults. Fixed with facilities, hot & cold water tab.
All rooms are flaunt with an open-air sunken bath fenced in a compound with garden . Low windows in the room allow cooling sea breeze to sweep right across the bed . Every room unit has a ‘ Serambi ‘ or verandah to provide a relaxation area that also acts as an important social role between household members and public passersby who stop for chat or exchange in the olden days.
The water vessels made of clay called ‘ Tempayan’ are found at the bottom of the steps with a water scoop or ‘Gayong’ made of coconut shell with wooden handle. This practice of washing the feet before entering the house is, according to the Malay custom, for hygienic reasons.
